Overview
An easy extension for guests already on the Georgian coast. From Batumi we cross at Sarpi and follow the sea to Trabzon, with its old town and the Hagia Sophia by the water. The next day we drive up to the Sumela monastery, built into a cliff face 1,200 m above the valley, and on to Uzungöl, a lake village in the mountains where most people end up staying longer than planned. Hotels, the crossing and a Turkish-speaking driver-guide are part of the package.
